What are we doing? Our story.

Hi honey.  What do you think about selling our house, homeschooling our kids again and traveling all over the United States in an RV for a year?

(silence....birds chirping....)

Okay, it wasn't like that, but kind of.  Matt gives a good man's description of why he wanted to do this in his first blog post and I hope to get him to write more because he has great humorous perspective.  This is day one of who knows how many.  We sit in a very hot RV spot in Grangeville, Idaho.  We have driven only 4 hours from our little mountain town of Cascade, Idaho.  We have pulled over three times while overheating on the Whitebird grade and we have prayed numerous times for a cooled down motor and working hazard lights.  I wonder what other prayers will be feverously murmured as we travel.

I like to look to my six year old when we are in the middle of a stress filled situation.  She is humming and dancing, taking her shirt off to ease the heat stroke and looking for a snack.  Not a care in the world.  I know we can't all be that way, but I sure like the perspective of a child.  I hope to live more in the moment on this year long adventure.  I hope to play more, stress less and learn all my small brain can take in.  I hope to become very comfortable living in a small space, bumping into each other, playing card games and exploring places we have been dreaming of, and maybe finding a few gems we knew nothing about. Most of all, I hope that we can give our kids a different perspective.  One where they look daily for ways to "pay it forward" to anyone in any situation.  We'll see what God does with that request!  We are so grateful for a job that can be done anywhere in the world that allows us to explore and expand our horizons exponentially, and maybe, just maybe, dance and sing a little more no matter the circumstance.
